PTC News Desk: The Punjab police on Wednesday took Amritpal Singh's aide Pappalpreet Singh into custody after his year-long NSA detention ended at Assam's Dibrugarh jail.

Soon after his release, Papalpreet was taken into custody in connection with the 2023 Ajnala police station attack case and brought to Amritsar. Maninder Singh, Amritsar (Rural) SSP, confirmed his arrest, stating that he would be produced before the Ajnala subdivisional court today.

The development comes days before Amritpal Singh's release is anticipated as his detention under the stringent NSA is slated to end on April 23. He is likely to be arrested in the Ajnala police station attack case soon after his release.

However it has not been ascertained yet that whether, he will be released or face fresh charges. Following Papalpreet's release, Amritpal Singh is the only one detained at Dibrugarh jail who had been lodged with nine associates since 2023.
