Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami withdraws his resignation, to continue as SGPC chief
PTC News Desk: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has withdrawn his resignation and will continue to serve as President of Shiromani Gurdwara PrabandhaK Committee. He is likely to assume office in a day or two.
The decision was taken after a meeting with SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Sukhbir Singh badal and several senior leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) met Advocate Dhami at his residence and persuaded him to assume his responsibilities as SGPC chief. Earlier on Monday, the SGPC working committee had rejected Harjinder Singh Dhami's resignation and reached his residence in efforts to persuade him to reconsider his decision.
Notably, the budget session of SGPC is also scheduled for March 28, and as per the Gurdwara Act, the session must be presided over by the SGPC president.
