Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami re-elected SGPC president; gets 104 votes against Bibi Jagir Kaur's 42
SGPC President Polls: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami was on Wednesday re-elected president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). He was polled 104 votes against Bibi Jagir Kaur, who was polled 42 votes. The voting took place at at Teja Singh Samundri Hall in Golden Temple complex.
Other office-bearers of the SGPC executive committee are Baldev Singh Kaimpuri (senior vice- president); Avtar Singh Fatehgarh Sahib (junior vice-president) and Gurcharan Singh Grewal (general secretary).
Out of 157 members, 146 turned up to participate in the election process of the SGPC.
Currently, the House comprised 157 members, besides 15 co-opted members, five Takht Jathedars and the head priest of the Golden Temple . The co-opted members, jathedars and head priest have no voting right. At least 26 members have died. Two others Sucha Singh Langah and Sharanjit Singh had resigned from the membership.
