8 months, 16 attacks: A timeline of spate of grenade attacks orchestrated in Punjab
PTC News Desk: An explosion was reported outside senior BJP leader and former cabinet minister Manoranjan Kalia's residence in Punjab's Jalandhar in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Police have claimed to gather some positive leads and 2 accused have been arrested in connection with the case. According to Punjab police the attack was carried out by Lawrence Bishnoi gang along with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
Two gangsters, Zeeshan Akhtar and Shahzad Bhatti, were conspirators, ADGP Arpit Shukla, said this in a press conference.
“These are desperate attempts by Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and a nexus of gangsters and terrorists. We have solved almost all the incidents, barring a few. The conspirators sitting abroad lure gullible youths with promises of a safe future abroad besides money and weapons,” a senior police official said.
This is the 16th attack since September 2024 when the first incident was reported.

September 9, 2024
A grenade was thrown at a house in Sector 10 in Chandigarh and the attack was allegedly carried out by US-based gangsters Harpreet Singh (Happy Passia) and Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda.
November 23, 2024
An IED was planted at a police station in Ajnala. Punjab police claimed to have busted the terror module being operated by Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Harvinder Rinda and Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia with the arrest of its two members.
November 29, 2024
An explosion near abandoned police post occurred in Amritsar's Gurbaksh Nagar.
December 2, 2024
A foiled grenade attack was reported at a police post in Nawanshahr and the grenade was defused.
December 4, 2024
A grenade hurled at Majitha police station in Amritsar shattered the windows.
December 13, 2024
Another grenade attack targetting plice station occured in Batala's Ghania Ke Bangar police station, however the grenade didn't explode.
December 17, 2024
Two people were arrested for carrying out grenade attack on the Islamabad police station in Amritsar.
