PSPCL in loss due to own negligence, thousands of crores of bills unpaid by govt departments

While the Punjab government is already indebted, its departments are indebted to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) as more than Rs 2000 crore is yet to be paid by the departments to PSPCL. As per the report by PSPCL, the biggest defaulter till June 25, 2021, is the Water Supply and Sanitation Department, which has to pay an electricity bill of over Rs 900 crore. Similarly, the second on the list is the Local Government Department which has a debt of over Rs. 692 crore. At seventh, the Industry and Commerce Department has to pay bills of Rs 11 crore 61 lakhs, while the Department of Revenue, Rehabilitation and Natural Disaster Management is at eighth with a debt of Rs 11 crore 2 lakhs. Overall, outstanding bills of 44 government departments account for more than Rs 2000 crore. On the other hand, if a common man fails to pay a bill, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited cuts down the connection. However, Punjab government departments haven't paid crores of bills yet no notice has been issued. -PTC News
