Punjab govt. decides to promote all Class 5 and 8 students; prepone summer vacations
In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, the Punjab Government has decided to prepone the summer vacations of schools. Meanwhile, it has also been decided that the students of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 5 and 8 shall be promoted. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said that following the decisions taken in Cabinet meeting it has been decided to promote all Class 5 and Class 8 students. Likewise, Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla took to Twitter and wrote: "Keeping in purview the #COVID19 situation, Punjab Govt has decided to prepone summer vacations of schools, which shall extend from April 11-May 10. The students of PSEB Class V & VIII shall be promoted based on Exams & Assignments given before the lockdown." https://twitter.com/VijayIndrSingla/status/1248593534900289537?s=20 Earlier on Thursday, the PSEB board released the date sheets for classes 5, 10 and 12. However, the board withdrew the date sheet in no time. Since the board has decided to promote the students of classes 5 and 8, the decision for students of Classes 10 and 12 is still awaited. Captain Amarinder Singh took to Twitter and wrote: "Given the seriousness of the situation arising out of COVID 19, Cabinet has decided to extend lockdown and curfew till 1st May. These are difficult times and I appeal to all to stay home stay safe and strictly observe health safeguards as you have done so far, for which I am thankful."
