Why is Kamal Nath 'unhappy' with Congress?

PTC News Desk: Congress leader Kamal Nath arrived in Delhi on Saturday, amid reports that he is considering switching to the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Madhya Pradesh stalwart, one of the most powerful Congress leaders after the Gandhi family, has not confirmed the significant shift. More importantly, he hasn't denied it.

Sajjan Singh Verma, who is a close confidant of Kamal Nath, hinted that his boss had been insulted and that the leader's self-respect was hurt.

"Three things work in politics: respect, insult, and self-respect; when these are violated, a person changes his decision...When such a top politician, who has done so much for Congress and the nation over the last 45 years, considers leaving his party, all three factors come into play," he said, effectively confirming a schism within the Madhya Pradesh Congress.

He did, however, say that no decision had been made about Kamal Nath leaving the Congress altogether. 

"No decision has been made that Kamal Nath ji is going, right there is just speculation," he went on to say.

According to sources, Kamal Nath has been in contact with BJP leaders since the Congress high command blamed him for the party's disastrous performance in the Madhya Pradesh elections. He was also removed as Madhya Pradesh Congress president and was not appointed opposition leader in the state assembly. 

Kamal Nath was also dissatisfied with Ashok Singh's nomination for Rajya Sabha. 

Singh is considered Digvijaya Singh's loyalist. 

Kamal Nath coveted a Rajya Sabha seat.

Nakul Nath removes Congress from bio

Earlier, former chief minister Kamal Nath's son Nakul Nath removed the Congress from his social media bio. 

Nakul Nath's move fueled rumours that he and his father, Kamal Nath, are defecting to the BJP, which have been circulating for several days.
