PTC Web Desk: The Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha by showing posters of religious figures. He further sparked controversy by claiming that those who identify as Hindus engage in "violence and hate."

The Congress MP began his address in the Lok Sabha with "Jai Samvidhan" and stated that his message is one of "fearlessness" and "nonviolence."

"If you look at the image of Lord Shiva, you will see that Hindus can never spread fear and hatred, but the BJP does so constantly. All of our great leaders and religions preach about fearlessness and nonviolence, but people who identify as Hindus only speak of violence, hatred, and falsehood. You are not Hindus, Aap Hindu ho hi nahi," Rahul Gandhi said.

The Congress MP also displayed placards with images of Guru Nanak, Jesus Christ, and a quote from the Quran, emphasising that all religions, including Hinduism, Islam, and Sikhism, value courage and fearlessness.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was also in the House, interrupted Rahul Gandhi's remarks.

"Calling the entire Hindu society violent is a serious issue," the Prime Minister said.

In response to the Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi stated, "The BJP and PM Modi are not the entire Hindu society."

Rahul Gandhi also accused the BJP of launching systematic attacks on the Constitution and the fundamental idea of India, adding that millions of people have opposed the ruling party's proposals.

"I was attacked at the orders of Prime Minister Modi. There were over 20 cases (filed against me), my house was taken away, and I was interrogated for 55 hours by the Enforcement Directorate," Gandhi said.

Despite these challenges, Rae Bareli MP expressed pride in their efforts to protect the Constitution.

"It feels nice that BJP people are now repeating 'Jai Samvidhan' after me," he tweeted.
