Inputs by Gagandeep Singh Ahuja from Samana: A high-voltage drama was witnessed at flood-ravaged Samana after former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh's daughter Jai Inder Kaur and Punjab Cabinet minister and Samana MLA Chetan Singh Jauramajra entered into a verbal duel over distribution of relief material.
In a video clip (see below), Samana MLA Chetan Singh Jauramajra can be seen stopping Jai Inder Kaur from going ahead with relief distribution. He can be heard saying, "Madam eh mera halka.... kaun hai tu....main mantri haan..." At the same time, Jai Inder Kaur is seen arguing that "he cannot stop her from distributing relief material among the affected residents".
Jai Inder Kaur intended to distribute relief supplies by boat. However, Cabinet minister Jauramajra did not grant permission for the boat, leading to a prolonged argument between the two parties.

Punjab ravaged by floods
As per official figures, at least 1,058 villages in 14 districts of Punjab have been ravaged by the floods. Roopnagar remains the worst affected.
As per official data, of a total of 1,058 affected villages, 364 are in Roopnagar, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar 268) , Patiala (250), Jalandhar (71), Moga (30), Hoshiarpur (25), Ludhiana (16), Tarn Taran (6) and three each in Sangrur and Ferozepur.
