Telangana Elections: Meet the first Congress CM of Telangana - Revanth Reddy; Bhatti Vikramarka as Dy CM
Telangana Elections: In a significant turmoil in politics, the Congress party won an overwhelming victory in Telangana, winning 64 Assembly seats and ending the Bharat Rashtra Samiti's (BRS) nearly ten-year rule. This victory for the Congress comes amid a larger saffron surge in the Hindi heartland, where the BJP won two states and retained one.
The Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekhar Rao, resigned on Sunday, marking the conclusion of the BRS era and becoming the first Congress CM of the youngest state in India, Anumula Revanth Reddy took oath as Chief Minister of Telangana.
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office to him at the the sprawling Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu also took oath as the Deputy CM of the state that was formed in the year 2014.
Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi who arrived in Hyderabad early this morning were also present for the swearing-in ceremony. Party leader Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi were also present on the stage.
