Major setback for Ajit Pawar as top leaders resign after poor results in Lok Sabha; likely to join Sharad Pawar

Setback for Ajit Pawar: In a major setback to the NCP Ajit Pawar faction, four top leaders of the party, four prominent leaders from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra's Pimpri Chinchwad have resigned, significantly impacting Ajit Pawar's leadership following a disappointing performance in the recent Lok Sabha Elections

Ajit Gavhane, the head of NCP's Pimpri-Chinchwad unit, along with Yash Sane, chief of the Pimpri Chinchwad Students' Wing, and former corporators Rahul Bhosale and Pankaj Bhalekar submitted their resignations to Ajit Pawar.

As per the sources, these leaders are likely to join the faction led by Sharad Pawar later this week.

Last month, Sharad Pawar stated that individuals aiming to undermine his party would not be welcomed, but he expressed willingness to embrace leaders who would bolster the organisation without damaging its reputation.

He emphasized, "Those who seek to weaken the party will not find acceptance. However, leaders who contribute to strengthening the organization and uphold its image will be welcomed."

Sources indicate that Chhagan Bhujbal was discontented after Ajit Pawar nominated his wife, Sunetra, for the Rajya Sabha seat following her loss in the Baramati Lok Sabha election against Supriya Sule.
