Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is planning to retire in September and that his recent visit to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur was connected to this decision. According to Raut, PM Modi had not visited the RSS headquarters in over a decade but did so now to bid farewell to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

"Perhaps he went to the RSS headquarters to submit his retirement application," Raut remarked while speaking to the media in Mumbai. He further alleged that the RSS and its affiliated organisations are looking for a change in national leadership and are also considering a new president for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Raut’s comments followed PM Modi’s visit to the RSS central office in Nagpur, marking only the second official visit by a Prime Minister. The last such visit was by Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2000 during his tenure. During his address at the RSS headquarters, PM Modi praised the organisation’s century-old ideology, describing it as a movement that has grown into a strong, deeply rooted entity with millions of dedicated members.

As part of his visit, the Prime Minister also paid tributes at Dr Hedgewar Smruti Mandir in Reshimbag, where memorials of RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and former RSS chief M.S. Golwalkar are located.

Raut’s remarks have stirred political debate, adding to the ongoing discussions regarding the BJP's future leadership.
