SAD expels Bibi Jagir Kaur, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra among other senior leaders over 'anti-party activities'
Chandigarh, July 30: The Shiromani Akali Dal's disciplinary committee, chaired by Balwinder Singh Bhundar, on Tuesday expelled several senior party leaders for alleged anti-party activities. The meeting was attended by committee members Maheshinder Singh Grewal and Gulzar Singh Ranike (via telephone).
The committee has expelled the following leaders from the party's primary membership due to their continuous alleged anti-party actions: Gurpratap Singh Wadala, Bibi Jagir Kaur, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Sikander Singh Maluka, Surjit Singh Rakhra, Surinder Singh Thekedar and Charanjit Singh Brar.
After extensive deliberations, the committee concluded that these leaders were persistently undermining the party's image. Despite a resolution passed at the working committee meeting on June 26, which amicably urged these leaders to voice their concerns within the party forum, they allegedly continued to engage in false propaganda against the SAD in the media.
Following the meeting, Balwinder Singh Bhundar alleged that the committee unanimously decided to expel these leaders as their sole aim appeared to weaken the Shiromani Akali Dal with the support of the party's adversaries. He warned that any future violations of party discipline would be met with stringent disciplinary action.
The committee has also removed the current in-charges of seven Vidhan Sabha constituencies with immediate effect. New in-charges would be appointed soon after consultations with local workers and leaders. The affected constituencies are Nakodar, Bholath, Ghanaur, Sanaur, Rajpura, Samana, and Garhshankar.
