Rajasthan gets new Chief Minister; who is Bhajanlal Sharma, first-time MLA from Sanganer | Read in Detail

PTC Web Desk:  The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced Bhajanlal Sharma as the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan, following a generational shift witnessed in Madhya Pradesh. Bhajanlal Sharma, a first-time lawmaker representing Sanganer, holds the position of general secretary within the BJP in the state.

Elected MLA from Sanganer

Bhajanlal Sharma has been elected as an MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) for the first time from Sanganer constituency in Jaipur. During the 2023 state Assembly elections, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) chose Bhajanlal Sharma by fielding him instead of incumbent MLA Ashok Lahoti. Bhajanlal Sharma defeated Congress' Pushpendra Bhardwaj with a margin of 48,081 votes.

Resident of Bharatpur

Bhajanlal Sharma hails from Bharatpur. Allegations of him being an outsider were made by the Congress during the Sanganer elections. However, despite this, Bhajanlal Sharma emerged victorious in Sanganer by a considerable margin. He is considered close to both the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and various organisations. In Rajasthan, he is being seen as a prominent figure in the general category.

Pending Case against CM-Designate

According to a media report, there is an ongoing case against Bhajanlal Sharma in Additional Sessions Judge No. 4, Jaipur, under IPC sections 353 and 149. The case involves allegations made against Bhajanlal Sharma on December 4, 2015.

His Assets

Bhajanlal Sharma possesses assets worth Rs 1.40 crore and liabilities of Rs 35 lakh. According to the affidavits filed during the Assembly elections 2023, the Rajasthan CM-designate has a net worth of Rs 1,15,000 in cash. Approximately Rs 11 lakh is deposited in bank accounts.

He owns three tolas of gold. He holds two insurance policies, one from LIC and another from HDFC. Apart from this, he owns a Tata Safari, valued at Rs 5 lakh as mentioned in the affidavit. Additionally, there is a TVS Victor bike.
