Amritsar, July 30: Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal expressed unwavering confidence in the newly appointed Punjab chief of BJP, Sunil Jakhar, asserting that the party will experience significant growth in the border state under his leadership.

Speaking to the press in Amritsar, the Union Minister stated, "I firmly believe that with Sunil Jakhar at the helm as our new Punjab president, we will make substantial progress, ensuring that the majority of lotuses bloom in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections here." Sunil Jakhar assumed the role of BJP's Punjab unit chief on July 4.

Earlier this month, BJP's national general secretary, Tarun Chugh, also lauded Jakhar, praising his extensive political experience and capable leadership, which will bring new vigor and direction to the party's operations in Punjab.

Conveying his best wishes to the former Congress leader on taking charge of the BJP's Punjab unit, Chugh remarked, "I extend my heartfelt best wishes to Sunil Jakhar-ji as he takes over as the BJP's Punjab president. I am confident that his vast political experience and adept leadership will invigorate our cadres in Punjab, providing them with renewed direction and purpose in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. His leadership will lead to a resounding victory for us."

Chugh acknowledged the commendable efforts of former state president Ashwani Sharma, recognizing his contributions in keeping the party well-organized and active in the state, particularly during the protests against the Centre's farm laws.

He further added that the BJP had been growing stronger in the border state, thanks to the efforts of former BJP presidents in Punjab. He mentioned that the party workers were exhibiting newfound energy and enthusiasm in Punjab, and the BJP was witnessing a steady rise in its influence in the AAP-ruled state.

Chugh confidently asserted that under Jakhar's guidance, the BJP will demonstrate significantly improved performance in Punjab during the upcoming general elections.

Currently, the BJP is gearing up for the upcoming Assembly elections in five states, namely Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram, which are scheduled to take place later this year. The party's preparations are already underway to strengthen its position in these states.
