Punjab Assembly Bypolls: Congress releases list of 4 candidates, fields Raja Warring's wife from Gidderbaha
Punjab Assembly Bypolls: Congress released a list of candidates for the upcoming Punjab assembly by-elections. The list includes names of candidates for four seats - Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal, Gidderbaha, and Barnala.
The party has nominated Amrita Warring, wife of former MLA Raja Singh Warring, as a candidate from Giddderbaha. Jatinder Kaur will compete for the Dera Baba Nanak seat, while Ranjit Kumar will run from Chabbewal. Kuldeep Singh Dhillion will run for election from Barnala.
Punjab will hold by-elections on November 13 for four assembly seats: Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal (SC), Gidderbaha, and Barnala. Vote counting will take place on November 23. The four assembly seats became vacant when MLAs from these constituencies were elected to the Lok Sabha.
The Gidderbaha seat became vacant when Congress MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring was elected to the Lok Sabha from Ludhiana in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
The Barnala assembly seat became vacant after Gurmeet Sigh Hayer, the AAP MLA, was elected to the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat. The Dera Baba Nanak seat became vacant after Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, the Congress MLA from here, was elected to the Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency.
