Parkash Singh Badal death: Manmohan Singh pens condolence letter to Sukhbir Singh Badal, says 'a stalwart has passed away'
New Delhi, April 26: Sardar Parkash Singh Badal and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh shared a cordial relationship. Whenever in Delhi, SAD patron would ensure that he could meet the former Prime Minister.
A nonagenarian, Manmohan Singh's health is also fragile due to age-related issues. After hearing about the sad demise of Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, the former PM on Wednesday penned a letter to SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal to condoled the demise of Sardar Parkash Singh Badal. "A stalwart has passed away," he wrote.
Manmohan Singh wrote," I have learnt with profound sorrow the demise of your beloved father Sardar Parkash Singh Badal ji. Parkash Singh Badal ji was a political stalwart who played a significant role in Punjab politics for many decades,” Singh said.
Remembering the late leader, the former Prime Minister said, “In his long political and administrative career, a five-time Chief Minister of Punjab, he made several noteworthy contributions towards the welfare of farmers and other weaker sections of our society. I have fond memories of my interactions with Badal Sahib on several issues.”
Manmohan Singh's wife Gursharan Kaur also offered condolences to the Badal family.
