Paper leaks, EVM issue & more: Akhilesh Yadav's scathing attack on Modi govt in Lok Sabha

PTC News Desk: A day after his ally Rahul Gandhi's remarks sparked outrage in the Lok Sabha, Samajwadi Party head Akhilesh Yadav attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in a speech packed with sarcasm and poetry.

Addressing the House, the SP chief raised the pressing issue of competitive exam paper leaks and EVM issues. He stated that he will continue to question the EVM voting method even if his party wins every Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh.

'Even if I win… I'll not have faith in EVMs'

Akhilesh Yadav stated that he does not trust Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and that even if his party wins all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, his faith in them will not be restored.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, the MP from Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh remarked, "Mr Speaker, I had no faith in EVMs in the past, I have none in the present, and I will have none in the future."

"Even if I win all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, I will not have faith in EVMs. During the poll campaign, I stated that our goal is to win the election with EVMs and then eliminate them," Akhilesh added. "The problem of EVMs will exist as long as they are not eliminated from the election process, and the Samajwadi Party will continue to raise this issue," he added.

Akhilesh Yadav's jab over BJP's reduced numbers in LS polls

Akhilesh Yadav took a jibe at the BJP-led NDA's low turnout in the Lok Sabha election, claiming it was a moral win for the opposition INDIA alliance.

"They said '400 par' during the election. I want to thank the people and for the first time, it appears that a lost government is in power. The people are saying this government won't survive."

In a poetic dig at the NDA government established when the BJP, which fell short of a majority, joined up with its allies to cobble together the needed numbers, he added, "Upar se juda koi taar nahi, niche koi adhaar nahi, adhar mein jo hai atki hui, woh toh koi sarkar nahi." The lines indicate that there is no basis upon which this government stands.

"The whole of India knows that INDIA is pro-India," he stated, asserting that the Opposition bloc won a moral win in the election.

June 4th, he said, celebrates the country's freedom from communal politics. "The politics of breaking has been defeating and the politics of uniting has won." "I want to say that the country will not be ruled by personal goals, but by what the people want. "Manmarzi (whims) will not work, but Jan-marzi (people's will) will," he remarked.

Akhilesh Yadav on paper leaks

"The last ten years have seen the rise of a competitive exam mafia. A student would prepare for and take an exam, only to find out that the paper had been leaked. Papers from all exams were leaked. And now, in June, the paper for the country's most renowned exam has leaked," he stated.

Yadav was referring to the concerns surrounding the NEET exam, which triggered widespread protests.

"Why are the papers leaking? The government is orchestrating these leaks because it does not want to provide jobs," he claimed. "Amrit kaal has poisoned the hopes of young people. The government that kills hope cannot change the present or improve the future," he said, mocking the government's Amrit Kaal slogan.
