'Murder of democracy': Political leaders condemn Arvind Kejriwal's arrest
Arvind Kejriwal arrested: After the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind, political leaders Thursday evening condemned the ED's move, calling it "the murder of democracy".
The Congress stated that if the AAP leader leaves its partnership with the INDIA bloc and joins the BJP, all summons would be withdrawn. Congress leader Udit Raj reacted to the situation outside Kejriwal's residence before his arrest, saying security officers surrounded it as if they were there to apprehend any "dacoit" or war enemy.
"Arvind Kejriwal's house has been surrounded by security forces as if they are there to arrest a dacoit or to wage war on an enemy country. This is a murder of democracy. If Arvind Kejriwal leaves his alliance with the Congress and joins the BJP, all summons will be recalled. If freedom of expression is suppressed, it is not just the AAP or Congress, all will have to suffer...," he said.

Rahul Gandhi said, "A scared dictator wants to establish a dead democracy. While capturing all institutions, including the media, breaking up parties, extorting money from companies, and freezing the main opposition party's account were insufficient for the 'devilish power,' the arrest of elected Chief Ministers has now become usual. INDIA will give a befitting reply to this."

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi stated that targeting the Delhi Chief Minister a month before the Lok Sabha Elections was completely "wrong" and "unconstitutional," and that lowering the level of politics in this way would not suit Prime Minister Narendra Modi or his government.
"Fight your critics in the electoral battle, confront them boldly, and, of course, criticise their policies and working style; this is democracy. However, using the power of all of the country's institutions to achieve one's political objectives and weakening them through pressure violates every principle of democracy," she stated.
"The bank accounts of the country's largest opposition party, Congress, have been frozen, and all political parties and their leaders are under constant pressure from the ED, CBI, and IT. One Chief Minister has been jailed, and the other is now arrested. Such a shameful scene is being witnessed for the first time in India's independent history," she added.

DMK spokesperson says, 'PM Modi wants to divert the attention'
Saravanan Annadurai, DMK spokesperson said, "It is on expected lines... He (PM Modi) wants to divert the attention of the common man from the mega scam, the biggest loot, the extortion racket that the BJP has run (Electoral Bond). That is why this arrest has been made. The High Court questioned the ED that what is the evidence that they had got to go behind Arvind Kejriwal. They (ED) sought time in the Court and now come knocking at his doors. We hope the Supreme Court will intervene to ensure that the democracy prevails..."
