Monsoon Session: AAP MP Sanjay Singh suspended from RS for 'violating directions of Chair'
Monsoon Session: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh was suspended from Rajya Sabha on Monday for the remainder of the monsoon session of Parliament for "repeatedly violating directions of the Chair."
Piyush Goyal, Union Minister and Leader of the House, proposed Sanjay Singh's suspension. Chairman Jagadeep Dhankhar sought House support for the proposal and stated that Sanjay Singh was suspended "for repeatedly violating the Chair's directive."
During the Opposition's protest in the House over the Manipur issue, the AAP MP was suspended for the remainder of the Monsoon session.
Last week, Dhankhar warned Sanjay Singh that he would be obliged to name the AAP member who had persistently protested against the planned bill to replace the Centre's law for control over services in Delhi.
Dhankhar had warned the AAP member after constantly urging him to take his seat.
The AAP is among the opposition parties calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a statement in Parliament about the situation in Manipur, as well as a full discussion of the topic.
The government has stated that it is willing to discuss the issue in Manipur.
Parliament's Monsoon session began on July 20 and will end on August 11.
