Milind Deora quits Congress: Reasons why former Union Minister left grand old party
Milind Deora quits Congress: Former Union Minister Milind Deora resigned from the Congress party on Sunday and joined the ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. "I have tendered my resignation from the primary membership of Congress, ending my family's 55-year relationship with the party," he stated.
Giving reason for his resignation from the grand old party, Deora said that he wants to support the "path of development". However, a variety of factors influenced his decision to break ties with the party that his family has been a part of for 55 years.

The growing friction between Milind Deora and Maharashtra Congress leaders is a significant factor. Internal disagreements, while not explicitly detailed, have influenced a decision that may reshape the party's Maharashtra poll strategy.
According to sources, the 47-year-old decided to leave the party after a "very long and futile wait".
The exit additionally reveals the Gandhi family's disconnect and inaccessibility to the lowest levels of party leadership.
Deora, the son of Congress veteran Murli Deora, previously won the Mumbai South seat in 2004 and 2009. In both the 2014 and 2019 elections, he was defeated by Shiv Sena candidate Arvind Sawant. He even resigned as Mumbai Congress president in the midst of the Lok Sabha campaign five years ago to focus on regaining the seat.
Deora recently expressed displeasure with the Uddhav Thackeray faction, which is part of the Opposition alliance, claiming the Mumbai South seat. Despite losing to Sawant in the previous two elections, he wanted the seat to remain with the Congress.
