Lok Sabha Elections 2024: EC to announce poll dates on March 16
Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Lok Sabha Elections 2024 encompassing both the general elections to elect members of the 18th Lok Sabha and assembly elections to select members of the Rajya Sabha, state legislative assemblies, panchayats, and urban local bodies is all set to take place in April-May this year.
The spokesperson for the Election Commission of India stated on Friday that the poll body would reveal the dates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on March 16.
Additionally, the EC will announce the dates for Assembly elections in certain states.

The dates for the polls will be announced at a press conference scheduled for Saturday at 3 PM.

The political parties have commenced announcing their candidates for the upcoming general elections, with the BJP and Congress each unveiling two lists of candidates so far.
The Election Commission on March 14 uploaded data on electoral bonds on its website as received from SBI. Future Gaming and Hotel Services and Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd were among the top donors to political parties.

Several petitions have been submitted to the highest court, contesting amendments introduced to various statutes through the Finance Act 2017 and Finance Act 2016, arguing that they have facilitated unrestricted funding of political parties without adequate oversight.
Notably, the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19.
