PTC Web Desk: In a significant development, the Karnataka Lokayukta has exonerated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his wife, and two others in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allocation case, citing a lack of evidence. The anti-corruption watchdog is set to submit a B-report, concluding that the allegations were of a civil nature and did not warrant criminal proceedings.

The complainant, journalist and social activist Snehamayi Krishna, has been officially notified of the findings and has been given a week to challenge the report before the magistrate. The Lokayukta’s notice stated that the probe found no substantive proof to support the charges and suggested that any perceived discrepancies may have resulted from a misinterpretation of legal provisions.

However, Krishna strongly criticised the Lokayukta’s decision, alleging political interference in the investigation. "The officials have acted under pressure from politicians. Despite presenting all possible evidence, they are falsely claiming a lack of proof. This is a betrayal of justice," he said. Krishna further asserted that he would continue his legal battle to hold Siddaramaiah accountable.

Leader of Opposition R Ashoka also condemned the Lokayukta's findings, alleging that the investigation was biased in favour of the ruling government. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ashoka stated, "The MUDA land scam investigation was by Siddaramaiah, for Siddaramaiah. Congress leaders had already declared the CM innocent before the probe even began, so the Lokayukta’s clean chit was expected."

Ashoka further warned that justice might be delayed, but it won’t be denied, accusing the government of burying the truth.
