JP Nadda resigns from Rajya Sabha; fuels speculations of contesting upcoming LS polls

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda on Monday resigned from Rajya Sabha ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2024.

His resignation has fueled speculations that he may contest the upcoming polls.


Nadda was elected to the upper house of Gujarat unopposed last month. He was one of 57 Rajya Sabha members whose terms ended in April.

Rajya Sabha parliamentary bulletin read: “Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, an elected member of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), representing the State of Himachal Pradesh, resigned his seat in the Rajya Sabha and his resignation has been accepted by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha w.e.f 4th March, 2024.”
