Haryana elections 2024: Rahul Gandhi's Sankalp Yatra effort to boost Congress’ prospects or damage control

Haryana elections 2024: As the Haryana assembly elections near, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has begun the Haryana Vijay Sankalp Yatra. This Yatra, which runs from September 30 to October 3, aims to strengthen the Congress party's position in the approaching elections.

However, there appears to be a huge disparity between the yatra's publicity and its actual impact on the ground.

The Congress party appears to lack a strategy for its Haryana election campaign. The confusion is clear because they have released their electoral manifesto twice. Initially, a manifesto was issued from Delhi. However, as it became clear that the BJP's manifesto was gaining popularity with voters, Congress felt obligated to put out another one from Chandigarh.

Role of Sankalp Yatra

Rahul Gandhi's yatra appears to be about damage control rather than resolutions. In states where Congress has made many promises but provided few results, this roadshow appears to be an effort to cover up these shortcomings. The yatra appears to be an attempt to shift attention away from internal issues rather than providing an extensive strategy for Haryana's development.

Issues within Congress

Rahul Gandhi's words have had a major impact on various parts of society. The insult to Kumari Selja and her subsequent marginalisation have not been overlooked by Haryana voters. Despite these obstacles, Congress continues its efforts through the Sankalp Yatra, seeking to divert attention away from these realities.

Rahul Gandhi's yatra appears to be an attempt to cover Congress' failures rather than a genuine effort for change in Haryana. Prominent leaders are not actively backing him in this journey, and there appears to be little direction for the state's development.
