Haryana Assembly Poll: Congress announces 7 Key guarantees for Haryana election, including legal MSP and Rs 6,000 pension

PTC News Desk: As the Haryana Assembly elections draw near, the Congress party has unveiled seven significant promises to sway voters, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and a caste survey.

On Wednesday, the Congress outlined its key pledges under a comprehensive social security plan. The highlights include a monthly pension of Rs 6,000 for the elderly, disabled individuals, and widows. Additionally, the party committed to reinstating the old pension scheme, aiming to win over government employees.

In its bid to address the energy needs of households, Congress promised 300 units of free electricity per month. The party also vowed to cover medical treatment costs up to Rs 25 lakh for citizens.

For the agricultural community, Congress pledged to introduce a legal MSP guarantee, a long-standing demand from farmers nationwide. Furthermore, the party assured that it would conduct a caste survey and raise the income threshold for the creamy layer from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

These commitments were announced during a press conference attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan, and other senior party leaders.

Kharge emphasised the party’s dedication to fulfilling these promises, stating, “We will implement these guarantees, which is why we have named them 'Saat Vaade, Pakke Irade'.” He also noted that while the seven guarantees are central, a more detailed 53-page manifesto will be presented in Chandigarh, elaborating on additional promises.

The Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled for October 5, with the vote counting set for October 8. This election is critical for the Congress party, which has struggled to maintain a strong political presence in the state in recent years.
