Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: Voter turnout 54.3% at 4 pm amid incidents of violence | Key updates
Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: Voting for the Haryana Assembly elections 2024 is underway across 90 constituencies, with the Election Commission reporting a voter turnout of 54.3% as of 4 pm. The highest turnout was recorded in Yamunanagar at 63%, followed closely by Nuh with 60.6% and Kaithal at 60.4%. On the other hand, Faridabad experienced the lowest turnout at 44.2%.
As of now, approximately 11 million voters have participated in the electoral process, which will continue until 6 pm. Election results will be announced on October 8.
Several incidents of violence have been reported during the voting process, particularly in Nuh, where clashes occurred among supporters of Congress, INLD-BSP, and independent candidates. Two persons sustained injuries from the stone-pelting, prompting the police to deploy additional forces in sensitive areas. The DSP also visited the villages to assess the situation.
In a notable moment, BJP MP Naveen Jindal arrived at a polling station on horseback to cast his vote.

Mahendragarh: A voter at booth number 128 was seen lifting and slamming the EVM three times after casting his vote. The police immediately took the individual into custody.
Palwal technical glitch: A voting machine malfunction led officials to seal the old machine and replace it with a new one.
Panipat stabbing: Tensions escalated into violence at a booth in Israna constituency, where two groups clashed over voting, resulting in one person being stabbed.
Panchkula clash: A scuffle broke out between BJP and Congress workers over slogans of "Jai Shree Ram," leading to heightened tensions at the polling booth.
Fatehabad dispute: Disruption occurred at a polling centre when an INLD-BSP candidate confronted the presiding officer, alleging that BJP candidate Devendra Babli's brother was allowed entry without permission.
Sonipat conflict: A dispute arose over the change of covering agents at a polling centre, leading to a confrontation between Congress candidate Jagbir Malik and the police.
Hisar: Supporters of BJP candidate Captain Abhimanyu and Congress candidate Jassi Petwar engaged in a physical altercation, trading accusations of bogus voting.
Mahendragarh clashes: Violence erupted between Congress and BJP workers in Nangal Chaudhary, with BJP alleging that Congress candidate Manju Chaudhary’s supporters attempted to seize the booth.
Rohtak assault: Former legislator and Haryana Jan Sevak Party candidate Balraj Kundu accused Congress candidate Balram Dangi's father of assault, resulting in torn clothing during the scuffle.
Jind booth capturing allegation: In Julana, complaints of booth capturing were reported, prompting BJP candidate Captain Yogesh Bairagi to visit the scene, where he faced opposition and was involved in a physical altercation.
