Delhi Assembly elections 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) unveiled its manifesto on Wednesday, emphasising policies aimed at supporting the middle class ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. The manifesto was presented by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, who also laid out seven key demands for the Central Government in anticipation of the Union Budget.

“Today, I urge the Centre to dedicate the upcoming Budget to the middle class,” Arvind Kejriwal stated while listing his demands:

Education budget: Increase allocation from 2% to 10%, and cap private school fees

Higher education support: Provide subsidies and scholarships

Healthcare budget: Raise funding to 10% and remove taxes on health insurance

Income tax exemption: Increase the limit from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh

GST on essentials: Eliminate GST on essential commodities

Senior citizen benefits: Implement robust retirement plans, nationwide free medical services in government and private hospitals, and pension schemes

Travel concessions for seniors: Offer a 50% discount on railway travel for senior citizens

Highlighting the party’s achievements, Arvind Kejriwal said, “We have used taxpayer money to improve education and shield the middle class from inflation by reducing electricity and water bills. We also upgraded government hospital infrastructure.”

In addition to the manifesto launch, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi joined Kejriwal at a press conference where they accused BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri and his associates of intimidating AAP workers. Kejriwal condemned the alleged acts as “hooliganism.”
