Corruption charges: Punjab CM orders inquiry against AAP MLAs from Jagraon, Faridkot

Mohali, November 5: Following complaints of corruption against two of its AAP MLAs Sarvjit Kaur Manuke and Gurdit Singh Sekhon, the Punjab Chief Minister's office has ordered investigation against both leaders. While Sarvjit Kaur Manuke is AAP MLA from Jagraon, Gurdit Singh Sekhon represents Faridkot Assembly constituency.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has already made it clear that no one will be spared in the case of corruption, even if he is an MLA of his party. "Corruption will not be tolerated at any cost," he had said.


Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had sacked Vijay Singla in a corruption case. Taking the complaint of corruption seriously against Sarvjit Manuke and Gurdit Singh Sekhon,  immediate orders have been issued to investigate the matter.

Sources say Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had received complaints against MLA Sarvjit Kaur Manuke from Jagraon constituency and Gurdit Singh Sekhon from Faridkot. This complaint has been sent in writing to the CM on behalf of Raj Kumar and he has also given his Aadhaar card number and mobile number in his complaint.

In the complaint, it is alleged that while the AAP had ordered its MLAs not to appoint their close relatives on any post and position, but Sarvjit Kaur appointed her husband Sukhwinder Sukhi as OSD. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi is looking after all work of an MLA. They also allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 2 lakh in the case of chairmanship of two truck unions of Hathur.

Apart from this, there are reports that the Jagraon MLA had been collecting Rs 7 lakh per month from sand miners. 

In the complainant, Faridkot MLA Gurdit Singh Sekhon has been accused of giving shelter to drug peddlers and helping them escape police custody, besides bribing police officials for not registering case against drug sellers. He has also been accused of blackmailing police officials.

In the letter, the complainant has sought action against both MLAs. After receiving the complaint, the Chief Minister's Office has written to the Special Principal Secretary of the Department of the Parliamentary Office stating action be taken as per the rules and the complainant should be informed.

A copy of the decision has also been sent to the complainant. Sources say that the transport department has also been asked to take action in this matter.
