Haryana Assembly elections 2024: Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, if sources are to be believed, is keen to join hands with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the Haryana Assembly elections 2024.

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi asked for the opinions of Haryana Congress leaders on the possibility of forming an alliance with the AAP during the party's Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on Monday.

Notably, the Congress Central Election Committee met on Monday to finalise the names of 34 candidates for Haryana's assembly elections. Depak Babaria, AICC's Haryana in-charge, stated that some names had been given to the review committee, and a decision would be made by the panel.

Babaria stated that the criteria for candidature were based on the winnability of leaders whose names appeared in polls and had not lost an election more than twice. According to sources, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's name was also included on Monday's approved list.

Earlier this year, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced that his party would contest all 90 Haryana Assembly seats on its own.

The Election Commission postponed the Haryana assembly elections date to October 5 from October 1. The decision was taken keeping in mind a centuries-old festival of the Bishnoi community. Results will be announced on October 8.
