Bypoll elections: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to contest from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat
Bypoll elections: The Election Commission (EC) has announced the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is ready to make her electoral debut from the Kerala constituency.
On Tuesday, the Congress party nominated her for the Wayanad seat.
Days after the Lok Sabha Elections, the grand old party declared in June that Rahul Gandhi would retain the Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh while vacating the Wayanad seat in Kerala, from which his sister Priyanka Gandhi would make her electoral debut.
If elected, Priyanka Gandhi will become a member of Parliament for the first time. This will also be the first time that all three Gandhi family members, Sonia, Rahul, and Priyanka, will be in Parliament together.
On Tuesday, the Election Commission ordered by-elections for the Wayanad and Nanded Lok Sabha seats, as well as 48 Assembly constituencies.
The byelection for the Wayanad parliamentary seat and 47 Assembly seats will be held on November 13, coinciding with the first phase of voting for the Jharkhand Assembly.
