BJP strategises survival amidst Manohar Lal Khattar's resignation and potential Haryana crisis

PTC News Desk: Amidst the political tremors reverberating through Haryana, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's resignation on Tuesday, alongside his entire cabinet, has plunged the BJP-JJP alliance into uncertainty. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), renowned for its adept political strategies over the last decade, is poised to navigate through this potential crisis with calculated precision.

In a strategic move, the BJP had secured the backing of Dushyant Chautala's 10 MLAs after narrowly missing the majority mark by five MLAs. With 41 MLAs currently in its fold within the Haryana assembly, the BJP is now orchestrating a plan to safeguard its position.

The BJP-led government in Haryana aims to weather the storm by rallying the support of five independent MLAs alongside Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) MLA Gopal Kanda. Should these six MLAs align themselves with the BJP, the party would command the allegiance of 47 MLAs in the 90-member assembly, surpassing the halfway mark of 45.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the BJP has dispatched its key functionaries, Tarun Chugh and Union Minister Arjun Munda, to assess and strategize amidst the evolving political landscape in Haryana.

As the BJP braces itself for the challenges ahead, its proactive approach underscores its determination to safeguard its interests and uphold its political dominance in Haryana.

Independents hold the Key to BJP government's survival

The political landscape in Haryana is witnessing a crucial juncture with the resignation of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar looming large. Amidst this uncertainty, the role of independent MLAs emerges as pivotal in determining the fate of the BJP-led government.

Prior to Khattar's resignation, Gurugram BJP MLA Sudhir Singla emphasized that there were no discussions about severing ties with the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), indicating a commitment to the alliance. Singla highlighted an impending meeting where all MLAs would voice their opinions in the presence of observers.

However, the stance of independent MLAs adds complexity to the situation. Nayan Pal Rawat, an independent MLA, asserted that the BJP-JJP alliance was on the brink of collapse, citing discussions with the Chief Minister and signaling a shift in allegiance towards the BJP-led government. Similarly, Dharampal Gonder, another independent MLA, affirmed ongoing support for the BJP government.

Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) MLA Gopal Kanda echoed sentiments of alliance dissolution, expressing confidence in the BJP's electoral prowess in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. Kanda's remarks underscore a belief that even without the JJP's backing, the BJP-led government would persist with the support of independent candidates.

These developments come in the wake of BJP MP Brijendra Singh's defection to the Congress, citing apprehensions regarding a potential BJP-LJP alliance. Singh's departure further underscores the fluidity of political alignments in Haryana, accentuating the critical role of independent MLAs in shaping the state's political landscape.
