PTC News Desk: In a significant move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has introduced 33 new candidates while replacing sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) in their initial list for the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections. The party's first list, released on Saturday, showcases notable changes across various states.

The BJP's unveiling of its Lok Sabha election candidates witnessed the replacement of 33 sitting MPs with fresh faces. This development underscores the party's strategic realignment as it gears up for the upcoming electoral battle.


The inaugural list of the saffron party's Lok Sabha lineup comprises 95 names, including 34 central ministers and two former chief ministers. The selections span across key states such as Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, and West Bengal.

The introduction of new candidates alongside the replacement of sitting MPs underscores the BJP's commitment to rejuvenating its political representation and addressing evolving electoral dynamics. As the Lok Sabha elections draw nearer, these changes signal the party's proactive approach in shaping its campaign strategy and reinforcing its electoral prospects across diverse regions of India.

ASSAM: BJP's new faces and MP replacements

In Assam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has introduced five fresh candidates while retaining six sitting Members of Parliament (MPs). Notable changes include Rajdeep Roy MP being replaced by Parimal Suklabaidhya in the Silchar constituency, and Amar Singh Tisso taking over from Horen Singh Bey for the Autonomous District (ST) seat.

Bijuli Kalita Medhi will contest Queen Oja MP's Gauhati Lok Sabha seat, while Ranjit Dutta will vie for Tezpur, currently held by Pallab Lochan Das. Union Minister Sarbanand Sonowal will replace Rameswar Teli in Dibrugarh.

CHHATTISGARH: BJP's fresh nominees and MP substitutions

In Chhattisgarh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has introduced four new candidates. Brijmohan Agrawal, a senior BJP leader, has been nominated for the Raipur seat, replacing Sunil Kumar Soni. Kamlesh Jangde will contest from the Janjgir Champa (SC) constituency, taking over from sitting MP Guharam Ajgalley.

Roop Kumari Choudhary has been named as the candidate for Mahasamund, succeeding MP Chunni Lal Sahu. In the Kanker (ST) constituency, Bhojraj Nag has been selected as the replacement for Mohan Mandavi.

DELHI: BJP's candidate replacements and new nominees

In Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has introduced five candidates, with four stepping in to replace sitting Members of Parliament (MPs). Notable changes include the replacement of former Union Minister Harsh Vardhan by Praveen Khandelwal for the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat.

In the West Delhi constituency, two-term MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma has been succeeded by Kamaljeet Sehrawat. Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of the late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, has been nominated for the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, replacing sitting MP Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi, who did not secure a spot on the list.

Ramesh Biduri, who sparked controversy with remarks against BSP MP Danish Ali in Parliament, has been replaced by Ramvir Singh Bidhuri for the South Delhi seat.

GUJARAT: BJP's candidate changes for 15 Lok Sabha seats

In Gujarat, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made significant alterations by dropping five sitting MPs while announcing candidates for 15 Lok Sabha seats.

Rekhaben Hiteshbhai Choudhary has been nominated for the Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat, replacing sitting MP Prabhatbhai Savabhai Patel. Three-term MP Kirit Solanki has been replaced by Dineshbhai Kidarbhai Makwana for the Ahmedabad West (SC) constituency.

Union Minister Parshottam Rupala has been named as the BJP candidate for Rajkot, replacing sitting MP Mohanbhai Kalyanji Kundariya. Similarly, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will contest from the Porbandar seat, currently held by party MP Rameshbhai Lavjibhai Dhaduk. Rajpalsingh Mahendrasinh Jadhav has been nominated for the Panchmahal seat, succeeding sitting MP Ratansinh Magansinh Rathod.

JHARKHAND: BJP's candidate changes

In Jharkhand, Manish Jaiswal has been named as the BJP candidate for the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat, replacing former Union Minister Jayant Sinha, the son of former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha. Sinha had announced his decision to opt out of the Lok Sabha polls a day before the BJP's list announcement.

Furthermore, Samir Oraon has been chosen to replace three-time MP Sudarshan Bhagat in the Lohardaga (ST) constituency.

MADHYA PRADESH: BJP's fresh faces and MP replacements

In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP's candidate list showcases seven new faces, signaling significant changes in the party's lineup. Bharat Singh Kushwaha has been nominated to contest for the Gwalior Lok Sabha seat, replacing sitting MP Vivek Narayan Shejwalker.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will replace sitting MP Krishnapal Singh Yadav in the Guna constituency. Lata Wankhede has been named as the candidate for the Sagar Lok Sabha seat, currently held by Rajbahadur Singh. Virendra Khatik will contest from the Tikamgarh (SC) seat.

The Vidisha Lok Sabha seat, previously held by MP Ramakant Bhargava, will now be contested by former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In Bhopal, Alok Sharma has been nominated as the BJP candidate, a seat currently held by Sadhvi Pragya Singh. Additionally, Anita Nagar Singh Chauhan will contest for the Ratlam (ST) seat, currently held by BJP MP Guman Singh Damor.

RAJASTHAN: BJP's new nominees for Lok Sabha seats

In Rajasthan, the BJP has introduced fresh faces to contest for 15 Lok Sabha seats, replacing five sitting MPs. The new candidates will represent constituencies including Churu, Bharatpur, Jalore, Udaipur, and Banswara.

TRIPURA: Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to contest Tripura west seat

Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has been nominated as the candidate for the Tripura West seat, which is presently held by party MP Pratima Bhoumik.

WEST BENGAL: BJP's candidate change and Lok Sabha poll expectations

In West Bengal, John Barla, the MP for Alipurduar, has been replaced with Manoj Tigga.

The Lok Sabha elections are anticipated to occur before May of this year. The Election Commission is expected to declare the polling dates following March 13.
