BJP launches NaMo App and strengthens RSS involvement in strategic poll push for Haryana

PTC News Desk: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is adopting a comprehensive strategy to address potential anti-incumbency concerns ahead of the critical Haryana Assembly elections scheduled for October 5. With a multifaceted approach that includes direct engagement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi via the ‘NaMo App,’ an enhanced role for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and the activation of ‘panna pramukhs,’ the party is making significant efforts to secure voter support.

The BJP's strategy, set to unfold over the next ten days, aims to solidify the cadre vote in favor of its candidates. A party source highlighted the importance of having a strong organisational structure down to the booth level, asserting that these cadre votes will be pivotal for the success of BJP candidates in the election.

While the election landscape appears to be primarily a contest between the BJP and Congress, there are about 20 constituencies where candidates from other parties, including non-BJP and non-Congress groups, as well as Independents, could play a crucial role in determining outcomes. In the event of multi-cornered contests, the BJP’s reliance on its cadre votes could significantly influence the results.

To mobilize its grassroots workforce, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to interact with party workers on September 26 through the ‘NaMo App’ as part of the ‘mera booth sabse mazboot’ initiative. This program aims to strengthen the party's presence at the booth level, ensuring that local workers are engaged and motivated.

Additionally, the BJP is collaborating with RSS volunteers, who have a robust presence on the ground, to enhance its campaigning efforts. The coordination between RSS members and BJP officials aims to create a seamless campaigning strategy, addressing concerns raised by the RSS regarding past coordination issues following the BJP's mixed performance in the recent Lok Sabha Elections, where it lost five out of ten seats to Congress.

In response to these challenges, the RSS has secured nominations for many candidates with ties to the organization, contributing to the BJP’s strategy of introducing 40 new candidates to combat anti-incumbency sentiments. Reports suggest that RSS volunteers are actively managing the campaigns of certain BJP candidates, enhancing their outreach and support mechanisms.

The BJP has also reactivated its ‘panna pramukhs,’ individuals responsible for managing electoral rolls, who played a significant role in the party's successes during the 2014 and 2019 Assembly elections. The party is working to address grievances from discontented panna pramukhs who have expressed dissatisfaction with party and government officials for various reasons, ensuring that their contributions are valued and integrated into the electoral strategy.

State BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli emphasised that the party operates as a cadre-based organization that maintains a mission-oriented approach, contrasting it with other political parties that typically mobilise only during election cycles.

With these strategic initiatives, the BJP aims to navigate the upcoming Assembly elections in Haryana effectively, leveraging its organisational strengths and grassroots connections to secure a favourable outcome.
