Assembly Elections 2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday postponed the polling day for the Haryana Assembly elections from October 1 to October 5 and shifted the vote counting for both the Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Assemblies from October 4 to October 8.

The Commission stated that it has received representation from the National President of the All India Bishnoi Mahasabha in Bikaner (Rajasthan) to reschedule the polling date slated for October 1.

For generations, numerous families in Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana have followed a long-standing tradition of visiting their native village Mukam in Rajasthan during the Amavas in the month of "Asoj" for their annual festival in Bikaner district, in memory of their Guru Jambheshwar.

This year's festival will be held on October 2, and thousands of Bishnoi families from Sirsa, Fatehabad, and Hisar will go to Rajasthan on election day, denying them their voting rights, according to the Election Commission of India.
