Amritpal Singh gets parole | Waris Punjab De head and Lok Sabha poll winner from Punjab's Khadoor Sahib constituency while incarcerated under the National Security Act in Dibrugarh jail, Amritpal Singh has been granted a four-day parole starting July 5.
According to Amritsar's Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, Amritpal Singh has been granted parole for up to four days starting July 5, 2024, under certain conditions.
"Amritpal Singh has been granted parole for up to four days starting from July 5, with specific conditions conveyed to the Dibrugarh jail superintendent," Ghanshyam Thori added.
This decision allows him to attend the oath-taking ceremony.
Amritpal Singh will be transported from Assam's Dibrugarh jail to Delhi via a special aircraft by the Indian Army. This transfer is part of a carefully coordinated operation, reflecting the importance and sensitivity of the situation.
Amritpal Singh family meeting schedule
Upon arrival, Amritpal Singh will be granted a one-hour meeting with his family at the Vishram Ghar in the Parliament in Delhi.
According to the sources, Amritpal Singh’s father Tarsem Singh is likely to travel to Delhi to meet him during the time allotted.
Amritpal Singh oath-taking
After meeting his family, Amritpal Singh's oath-taking ceremony is scheduled. Sources indicate that the oath ceremony will take place in the speaker's room, marking a significant moment as Singh assumes his duties despite currently the National Security Act in Assam's Dibrugarh jail.
Immediate Transfer to Dibrugarh Jail
Following brief reunion with family and oath-taking ceremony, Amritpal Singh will be taken directly to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam. This part of the journey will also be facilitated by a special plane provided by the Indian Army, ensuring a swift and secure transfer.
Waris Punjab De head Amritpal Singh was arrested from Moga’s Rode village on April 23, 2023, after a more than one-month-long manhunt. Following his arrest, NSA was invoked against him and he was sent to Dibrugarh jail in Assam.
