Lok Sabha Polls 2024: Who is Ravi Kishan - Bhojpuri actor fielded from UP’s Gorakhpur
PTC News Desk : Ravi Kishan Shukla, popularly known as Ravi Kishan a well-known Bhojpuri actor, politician, film producer and television personality will run for office again from Gorakhpur, the stronghold of Yogi Adityanath. The current Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath held the seat till 2017.
Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) once again reposed posed in him and fielded him from Gorakhpur for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, a seat he has held since 2019 elections, Bhojpuri filmstar Ravi Kishan said, “I want to thank the top leadership wholeheartedly... The organization gave me a second chance from the hottest seat after Kashi. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire organization and Prime Minister Modi. I will maintain this trust...BJP will win 400 seats and Gorakhpur seat will create history."

Ravi Kishan, a prominent Indian actor, transitioned into politics and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In 2014, Ravi Kishan, who transitioned from acting to politics,contested the Lok Sabha Elections from the Jaunpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh but lost by a significant margin to the BJP candidate at the time, Krishna Pratap Singh.
However, he later contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Gorakhpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh and emerged victorious and won the seat by a significant margin and became a Member of Parliament (MP).
Since then, Ravi Kishan has been actively involved in political activities, representing his constituency and participating in various parliamentary proceedings.
Ravi Kishan also made it to the headlines during the Monsoon Session 2022 when he introduced a private members' bill on population control.

Ravi Kishan appeared in numerous successful Bhojpuri films and has played a significant role in popularizing the genre both within India and among the diaspora.
Ravi Kishan appearances on popular reality shows like “Bigg Boss” and “Ek Se Badhkar Ek – Jalwe Sitaron Ke” have elevated his status as one of the leading actors on Indian television. Furthermore, Ravi Kishan's film Jala Debh Duniya Tohra Pyar Mein, produced by the American film company PUN Films, was featured at the India Pavilion during the Cannes Film Festival 2010.
Notably, BJP on Saturday released its first list of 195 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, days after a marathon meeting of the party's Central Election Committee (CEC) that was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, naming 34 Union Ministers, including heavyweights such as Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh from their current Gandhinagar and Lucknow seats respectively.

In the first list of 195 candidates, the BJP included 28 women, 47 youth, 27 Scheduled Castes, 18 Scheduled Tribes and 57 OBCs. The party announced 51 candidates in Uttar Pradesh, 24 in Madhya Pradesh, 15 each in Gujarat and Rajasthan, 20 for West Bengal, 12 in Kerala, 11 each for Assam, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, nine in Telangana, five for Delhi, two for Jammu and Kashmir, two for Arunachal Pradesh, one for Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Daman and Diu also.
