60-year-old former Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh to marry party colleague Rinku Majumdar
PTC Web Desk: Former West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh is set to marry fellow party member Rinku Majumdar in a private ceremony scheduled for Friday evening in New Town, Kolkata. The 60-year-old leader, known for his outspoken personality, has never been married before.
According to sources close to the couple, Ghosh and Majumdar have known each other since 2021, with their bond strengthening over time through regular morning walks. The relationship eventually blossomed into a decision to marry, with the proposal reportedly initiated from the bride’s side.
Ghosh, a lifelong Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) member, transitioned into active politics with the BJP in 2015. During his tenure as the state president, he played a pivotal role in positioning the BJP as the principal opposition force in West Bengal, replacing the CPM.
Speaking to a news channel ahead of the wedding, Ghosh said, "My mother always wanted me to get married. I'm fulfilling her wish. My commitment to politics will remain unchanged—this is a personal step that won’t affect my public responsibilities."
The wedding will be a low-key event with only close friends and family in attendance. On Friday morning, several senior BJP leaders, including state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar, visited Ghosh at his New Town residence to extend their best wishes.
It is believed that the couple finalised their wedding plans during a recent outing to an IPL match earlier this month. While this will be Ghosh’s first marriage, Majumdar has been previously married and has a son.
Currently, Ghosh is gearing up for a significant role in the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, where he is expected to contribute strategically to the party's campaign.
