Police detain farm leader Rakesh Tikait on way to protest at Jantar Mantar
New Delhi, August 21: Delhi Police detained farmer leader Rakesh Tikait while he was on his way to protest against unemployment in the country at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.
He was reportedly detained by the Delhi Police while entering the national capital.
According to sources, Tikat was stopped at Ghazipur while he was on his way to Jantar Mantar and "was detained and taken to Madhu Vihar police station where the police requested him to return."
Following this, Tikait accused the Delhi police of working at the behest of the Centre.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police tightened security, put up cemented barricades and deployed more security at Delhi-Haryana Tikri border ahead of the farmers’ call to protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
Notably, the protest by the farmers has been scheduled to take place in Delhi on Monday, for which they have started to make preparation and started to arrive in the city.
