PM Narendra Modi to give away his social media accounts to women on Women's Day

A day after leaving everyone stunned after hinting at giving up his social media accounts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that he will give away his social media accounts to the women whose life and work have inspired the nation. This Sunday, India will be celebrating Women's Day on March 8.

What PM Modi said?

PM Narendra Modi took to twitter and wrote: "This Women's Day, I will give away my social media accounts to women whose life & work inspire us. This will help them ignite motivation in millions. Are you such a woman or do you know such inspiring women? Share such stories using #SheInspiresUs." Earlier, PM Modi had written: "This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. I will keep you all posted." With over 53.3 million followers on Twitter, 35.2 million on Instagram, 4.51 million subscribers on YouTube and 44.73 million followers on Facebook, PM Modi is one of the most popular world leaders on the social media platforms. He has been a pioneer in using social media for political communication.

People share inspiring stories of women

President Awardee Dr. Malvika Iyer took to twitter and wrote: "I had the honor of meeting you where you described me as “अभूतपूर्व नारी”. I'm so thrilled to share my journey of surviving a bomb blast and overcoming my disability with you and the world. A BIG thank you to everyone who nominated me."
