Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced that he is thinking of giving up his social media accounts. "This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. I will keep you all posted," PM Modi wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the netizens were shocked and started pouring reaction to the sudden announcement.
As soon as the tweet surfaced, the opposition leaders started giving reactions to it. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was one of the first opposition leaders to comment on. He said, "Give up hatred, not social media accounts."
Meanwhile, Tripura Chief Minister and BJP leader Biplab Deb took a dig at Rahul Gandhi's reaction and wrote: "So that's the reason Sonia Gandhi doesn't have any Social Media account?"
"The first step towards banning social media in India"
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor responded to the Prime Minister's tweet. He wrote: "The PM's abrupt announcement has led many to worry whether it's a prelude to banning these services throughout the country too. As Narendra Modi knows well, social media can also be a force for good and for positive and useful messaging. It doesn't have to be about spreading hate."

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' wife Amruta Fadnavis took to Twitter and replied: "Sometimes it’s the smallest decision that can change our lives forever! I will follow the path of my leader !!"
