PM Narendra Modi's Punjab visit Highlights: Prime Minister Narendra Modi cancelled the Ferozepur rally due to bad weather. He was set to lay the foundation stone of PGI Satellite Centre at Ferozepur and two medical colleges at Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala on Wednesday. His visit came ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections 2022. Preparations were in full swing ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab's Ferozepur for laying the foundation stone for PGIMER’s Satellite Centre. However, the rain played spoilsport. Apart from this, PM Modi was supposed to lay the foundation of two medical colleges in Punjab at Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala. With a combined cost of 650 crores, these two medical colleges were said to prepare for training to 200 MBBS candidates. It is anticipated that these two colleges would be ready within the next 2 years.

Punjab CM has kept himself in isolation so he will skip the event at Ferozepur 10:33 am | Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) president and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa tests positive for Covid-19. Dhindsa said that he was on his way to Ferozepur to attend PM Narendra Modi's rally but returned after receiving the test report.

At a programme in Ferozepur, the foundation stone of development works worth Rs. 42,750 crore would be laid, which will improve the quality of life for the people."
