PM Modi to receive first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award in Mumbai
New Delhi, April 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday will visit Mumbai to receive the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award. Paying tributes to the legendary singer, PM said she always dreamt of a strong and prosperous India and contributed to nation-building. "Tomorrow evening, I will be in Mumbai where I will receive the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award. I am grateful and humbled by this honour associated with Lata Didi. She always dreamt of a strong and prosperous India and contributed to nation-building," PM Modi tweeted. The award was created in remembrance and honour of the legendary singer, who died earlier this year in Mumbai at the age of 92. According to a release from the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan Charitable Trust, the award will be given every year to an individual "who has made path-breaking, spectacular, and exemplary contributions to our nation, its people, and our society." According to Prime Minister's office statement, the projects being inaugurated and whose foundation stones are being laid during this visit will go a long way in facilitating the provision of basic amenities, ensuring ease of mobility and development of infrastructure in the region. PM Modi will undertake a visit to Jammu and Kashmir and participate in the celebration of National Panchayati Raj Day on April 24 at around 11.30 am and address all the Gram Sabhas across the country.
