PM Modi 'security breach': Probe panel seeks response from Punjab DGP, others by 5 pm on Jan 6
Mohali: A commission established by the Punjab Government to look into the allegations of security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Ferozepur in Punjab on January 5 has sent a questionnaire to all police functionaries involved in ensuring security, including the Punjab Director General of Police. The commission is headed by Justice Mehtab Singh Gill. It has set 5 pm on Thursday as the deadline for the reply. To carry out a thorough probe into "security breach" during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ferozepur on Wednesday, the Punjab Government has constituted a high-level committee. The committee comprised Justice Mehtab Singh Gill (retd) and Principal Secretary, Home Affairs, and Justice Anurag Verma. The committee is supposed to submit its report within three days. Despite having intelligence inputs about protesters, the Punjab Police did not follow the ‘Blue Book’ and had not prepared a contingency route for the Prime Minister’s visit, said a senior official of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). He added that officials of the Intelligence Bureau were in contact with the Punjab Police and had alerted them regarding protesters' movement and Punjab Police officials assured them of complete protection to the VIP. -PTC News
