PM Modi on Mann Ki Baat: India's vaccination drive; Republic Day violence
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held this year's first Mann Ki Baat today. It was the 73rd episode of PM Modi's monthly radio programme. The Prime Minister, during his address, referred to the violence at the farmers' tractor rally on Republic Day and also talked about the country's vaccination drive.

He stated, "India was saddened by insult to tri-color on Republic Day,".
Talking about corona vaccine, "India is not only running the world's biggest vaccination drive but we are also the fastest in vaccinating our citizens."
PM Modi said that the Govt. is committed to modernize farming and is taking many steps; and will continue with its efforts.
He also said, "Earlier, a vehicle used to take on an average 7 to 8 minutes to cross toll plazas; since the inception of 'FASTag', this time has reduced to around one and a half to 2 minutes; this will save approximately ₹ 21,000 crore,"

Adding, "From January 18 to February 17, our country is observing Road Safety Month; road accidents are a matter of concern not just in our country but also the world over,"
He also mentioned that this time in the 26th January parade, two women officers of the Indian Air Force created new history.
He appealed to everyone, especially young friends, to write about freedom fighters and incidents associated with freedom. "Write books about the saga of valor during the period of freedom struggle in your area; an initiative has been taken for Young Writers for the purpose of India Seventy-Five," he said.
In this vaccination Programme, you must have noticed something more. During the moment of crisis, India is able to serve the world today, since we are capable, self-reliant in the field of medicines, vaccines, said the PM.
Adding, "the Made in India vaccine is, of course, a symbol of India's self-reliance; it is also a symbol of self-pride."
PM Modi also mentioned the historic win, stating, "This month, there has been very good news from the cricket pitch too. Our cricket team, after initial setbacks made a grand comeback, winning the series in Australia. The hard work and teamwork of our players is inspirational,"
"Today is the last day of January 2021. Like me, are you also thinking that 2021 had commenced just a few days ago? It just doesn't feel that the entire month of January has passed by. This is what is termed as the speed of time," he concluded.
