Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh on Monday took a serious note of sacrilege incidents across the nation and said the perpetrators of the crime would be identified and brought to book. He said any act hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community would not be tolerated. Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, who on Monday convened a meeting with Nihang Singh organisations, religious bodies and the SGPC in Amritsar, also passed a resolution flaying the sacrilege incidents. In the resolution passed on Monday, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh appealed to the Sikh community to unite against "anti-Panthic" elements and identify those responsible for sacrilege incidents across the nation. He said religion conversion cases would also be looked into. The Akal Takht Jathedar said awareness drives would be carried out in towns and rural areas. CBI gives sacrilege case files to police The Akal Takht Jathedar also condemned the alleged violation of 'maryada' (decorum) at historic Gurdwara Nanakmatta Sahib in Uttarakhand during Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s visit to the shrine. He said a thorough investigation into the case would be conducted. A three-member committee would visit the gurdwara and necessary action would be taken against the guilty, said Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh. -PTC News
