If you have pending traffic fines, then no Passport for YOU! If you are going to apply for a passport any time soon, then it’s high time to check if you have any pending traffic fines. In Pune, police have put 92 passport applications on hold who have failed to pay fines for traffic violations’. Police have told the sources that there are thousands of fines which have not been paid despite repeated appeals. The fines range from Rs 200 to 1,200. The Pune police have linked the data on traffic violators with the passport department and in just 4 days, 92 applications have been identified who haven’t paid their traffic fines. The Pune Police is currently compiling a database of traffic violators to be linked with the passport verification process. Even if the applicants have positive police verification report, they will not be given passport, until and unless they don’t clear their traffic violation dues. They will then get a report that would state that the all dues have been cleared under the Motor Vehicle Act.
