Paresh Rawal tests positive for coronavirus weeks after taking COVID-19 vaccine
Bollywood actor-politician Paresh Rawal is the latest Indian celebrity to have contracted the novel coronavirus. He has tested positive for COVID-19, the actor revealed in a tweet on Friday night. [FACT CHECK] Taking to Twitter, Hera Pheri actor wrote: "Unfortunately, I have tested positive for COVID-19. All those that have come in contact with me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested." It may be recalled that Paresh Rawal, on March 9, got his first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, which he had revealed in a tweet. Thanks to all the doctors and nurses and the front-line health care workers and the scientists. Thanks, Narendra Modi." He was seen flashing the victory sign in the photo clicked at the vaccine center. Even as his wife Swaroop Rawal, an actress and life skills teacher, was also administered the vaccine earlier this month. In a tweet on March 6, she had written: "Follow the leader... I got my COVID-19 vaccine did you?" India on Saturday recorded 62,258 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the biggest single-day spike since mid-October. In the recent past, Milind Soman, R Madhavan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey, among others had revealed that they tested positive for COVID-19.
