Islamabad (Pakistan), August 30: Floods have killed over 1,100 people in Pakistan, affecting over 33 million people - one in every seven Pakistanis. Since June 14, at least 1,136 people have been killed and 1,634 have been injured as a result of the rains and floods, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). It further stated that 28 people had died in the previous 24 hours and that authorities were still trying to reach isolated villages in the mountainous north. According to the NDMA, more than two million acres of cultivated crops have been damaged, 3,457 kilometres (about 2,200 miles) of roads have been destroyed, and 157 bridges have been washed away.
