Chandigarh, 11 August: In a unique initiative of its kind, the Punjab Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today approved a trust deed for setting up an 'Education-on-Health Fund' in the state.

Giving information about this, the spokesperson of the Chief Minister's Office said that the primary objective of this fund is to assist in the creation or upgradation of capital institutions in the health and education sectors within the geographical limits of the state of Punjab so that the welfare of the people is ensured through voluntary donations. .The chief minister will be the chairperson of this trust, while the finance minister will be the vice chairperson, the chief secretary will be the member secretary and the ministers of health, school education, medical education, higher education and technical education departments will be included as trustees.
In another important decision taken with the aim of providing relief to cotton-picking workers in view of the loss of cotton crop due to insect attacks, the Punjab Cabinet approved the amendment in the existing policy of the Revenue Department for the identification of farm laborers in this regard. The primary objective of this policy is to provide compensation to the concerned farmers as well as cotton picking workers for the crop loss. According to the current policy proposals, it was difficult to identify farm workers. By doing this, this amendment has been made to solve these problems.
According to the revised policy, the revenue patwari and agricultural extension officers will identify the laborers through a group household survey in the villages and the patwari will verify that the family concerned has no cultivable land or less than one acre of land. After the survey, the Patwari and the Agricultural Extension Officer will finalize the list of landless farm laborers' families by holding a general meeting of the village at a common public place on a fixed date and time for public objection/verification of this prepared list. This policy will be applicable from monsoon season 2021.
The Punjab Cabinet has decided to refer the case of special exemption in the sentence of 23 prisoners/aged prisoners in the jails of Punjab under Article 163 of the Constitution of India to the Governor of Punjab for consideration under Article 161 of the Constitution of India.
In another major decision, the Cabinet has approved the existing casual and maternity leave as well as paid leave, half pay leave and extraordinary leave to guest faculty and part time lecturers posted in government colleges. The guest faculty and part-time lecturers were demanding these holidays for a long time. The problems of these lecturers will be reduced now due to the transparency of the Punjab government.
Agreement to finalize agreements for Integrated Manufacturing Cluster under Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor
To create an enabling environment for the industrial sector to create job opportunities for the youth, the Group of Ministers has approved the Shareholders Agreement (SC) for the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (MIC) under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). .HA) and has agreed to enter into State Support Agreement (SSA). The project is coming up near Rajpura with the help of National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC).
This project will help in promoting local trade as well as making business globally competitive and creating a conducive environment for investment. The project will directly provide an estimated 32,724 employment opportunities in the industrial sector and 14,880 employment opportunities in the non-industrial sector.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Cabinet approved the annual management reports of the Punjab Cooperative Department for the year 2017-18 and 2018-19.
